​​​​​Michael Brooks

Michael Brooks is a diverse musician and experienced teacher. He has studied, played and taught a wide array of musical guitar styles, ranging from rock, blues and metal, to classical, fusion and jazz.

Born on the west coast in the city of Powell River, from an early age he learned to play most musical styles, from various teachers. While completing a two-year pedagogy by age 17, he concentrated on classical guitar, then moved on to attend the three year jazz program at Malaspina University College, at the Nanaimo, B.C. campus. In 1999 he returned to his hometown to teach full time at the Powell River Academy of Music until travelling east in 2009 to adopt Montreal as a new home.​
